Clean water.
Rooted in tradition.
We integrate modern multi-stage purification technology into traditional Indian clay pots to deliver safe, affordable, and naturally cool drinking water to rural communities.

The Challenge
A growing water crisis in rural India.
Over 600 million people in India face extreme water stress, with nearly 70% of the water supply considered contaminated. Traditional sources like wells and rivers often carry waterborne diseases.
While high-tech RO purifiers exist, they are too expensive and require a continuous electricity supply, making them unviable for thousands of remote villages.
Our Solution
A culturally relevant innovation.
We took the traditional Indian "Matka" (clay pot) — a household staple known for keeping water naturally cool — and integrated a gravity-based multi-stage filtration system into it.
- Filters up to 4,000 liters per cartridge
- Zero electricity required
- Preserves essential natural minerals
- Crafted locally by regional artisans
Advanced multi-stage filtration
Driven simply by gravity. No complex installation, no power grid dependency.

Top Chamber (Raw Water)
Water is poured into the upper food-grade plastic container which houses the primary filtration core.
Multi-Stage Core
Gravity pulls water through sediment filters, activated carbon, and UF membranes, removing 99.9% of bacteria and cysts.
Clay Pot Storage
Purified water collects in the lower clay matka, which naturally cools it and preserves its mineral balance.

Ready for distribution.
Our packaging is designed to protect the fragile clay pot during transit across rough rural terrains while clearly communicating the assembly and usage instructions.
We partner with local NGOs and community leaders to ensure these filters reach the households that need them the most, providing a complete end-to-end solution for clean water access.
Scaling clean water access with Ekal Vidyalaya
Ekal Vidyalaya is proud to support Adopt A Filter, a clean water initiative that offers a simple, effective solution to a challenge faced by many rural families. In several of the villages we have schools in, access to clean drinking water remains a daily concern, leading to health problems for children and the elderly.
Each unit provides 10 to 12 liters of clean water per day, removing dirt, bacteria, and microplastics without the need for electricity or complex upkeep. Built directly into a familiar matka, it fits naturally into rural homes and daily routines.
Our Next Milestone
The project continues to grow, with the next goal being to reach 10,000 filters in the coming months!
“Ekal Vidyalaya believes in supporting practical, community-focused solutions that can make a lasting difference. Adopt A Filter is one such initiative. We are proud to partner with Yash Guptaand help bring clean, safe drinking water to more families across rural India, one household at a time.”
